- Town of Warwick purchased KUTZ Camp for ~6.5m ~88 acres of land
- The native Indians were in this area and the tribe name was Lenape Indians
- Warwick Tpke. (Moe Mtn.) was a major hub for the Indians from N.J.
- 1714-1745 people from Europe settled in this area, the Indians were becoming overwhelmed
- Sub-divided into small lots-KUTZ was part of these lots
- In ~1860 the dairy industry and farmland exploded
- In the woodlands, wood was produced for heating and building
- In ~1860 the railroad became popular, with coal from Pennsylvania
- Land was cleared for wood for people in the Village of Warwick to use
- Grossman Family bought the 88 acres in ~1930-1940
- Grossman Resort for Jewish people was formed
- Grossman also built the present lake etc. with buildings
- In 1961 Chock Full of Nuts bought the 88 acres from the Grossman’s
- Baseball star Jackie Robinson was on the board and called the property Utopia
- The camp opened in 1962 to ~1965
- In ~1964 the property was missed managed
- In 1965 the property was sold to URJ (Union for Reformed Judaism)
- The camp was re-named URJ KUTZ Camp
- KUTZ Camp was opened for weekends and mid-week events in the months April-May-September and October
- KUTZ Camp was opened ~7 days a week for the months of June-July and August
- The Camp has lakefront activities, pools, alpine tower, sports fields, indoor and outdoor theatres and comprehensive arts center
- In 2015 KUTZ Camp celebrated 50 years (1965-2015). The Camp Director was Melissa Frey with an assistant Camp director and facility manager
