Town Board Accomplishments

  • 5Passed award-winning, innovative zoning that has preserved over 60% of any site developed for residential purposes since its inception.
  • Adopted first of its kind Intermunicipal agreement for annexation of land from the Town into the Villages of Warwick & Florida eliminating the automatic density bonus for developers.
  • Implemented the voter approved Purchase of Development Rights (PDR) bond program that preserved 4500 acres of working farms.
  • Successfully gained approval from NYS, in 2006, to implement a Real Estate Transfer Tax of ¾% and successfully extended it to 2050 which has already preserved another 4500 acres of active farms.
  • Expanded bus transportation services to allow our residents to travel within our town as well as many locations across Orange County. Built a Federally funded Transit garage serving our system and those of other municipalities.
  • Expanded recreation opportunities by creating new parks such as the Thomas Morahan Waterfront Park, Winstanley Park, Wickham Woodlands, Kutz Camp, UCP Dog Park as well as improving our existing parks in Pine Island, UCP and Airport Park.
  • Acquired the closed Mid Orange Correctional Facility and converted it into a thriving economic development center creating jobs and producing tax revenues for our residents.
  • Made energy saving improvements to Town facilities including lighting, heating, solar hot water, solar panels, EV charging station and made changes to our zoning code to promote solar arrays and battery storage units.
  • Built a new senior center building to better serve our senior population.
  • Instituted the Warwick friendly Visitors Program to provide services and assistance to our seniors which helps them remain in their homes as they age.
  • Reduced the size of Town government and maintained the lowest tax rate of any Town in Orange County that provides police services.
